Dear Friends and Family in Christ Jesus,
Greetings to you in the name that is above all names the name of Jesus!
It is with joy that we greet you as we are back from 4 months of travels throughout Mexico. We will be in the U.S. for one week before leaving to head for Spain, which will be our next station of ministry. I want to share with you briefly about our time in Mexico, which was intended to be 6 weeks but due to circumstances from the Lord we ended up being there for 4 months. First of all I want to share with you this verse:
Proverbs 16:9 A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs His steps.
Truly this is a verse that has become part of our daily walk with the Lord as we so often make our plans as we see best but it is God who directs us!
Our time in Mexico started out by traveling and ministering throughout the state of Veracruz for 1 month ministering in various churches. It was a great time of being in new churches meeting new people and also visiting churches where we have been before. In one church we held a four-day seminar on Missions, the theme was “He Who Win Souls Is Wise”.
It was a very blessed time as we had the opportunity to pray over and anoint in a Consecration service approximately 20 workers to go into the harvest fields in the surrounding cities and towns. Another church where we ministered we also had several days of service in a church without walls. Literally, we were in Hot country so many churches and even homes are built this way as it is so hot and there is no air conditioning or fans at all. The services were very blessed and many received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the Lord spoke to the pastor as well as the people through the Word spoken to them. The difficult part of being there was the constant bugs that were attracted to the lights because the services were at night. Since there were no walls, the bugs flew freely around and would drop in our hair on our clothes and body making it very hard to minister and fight off the bugs. It was definitely a missionary experience!
From Veracruz we went on to Oaxaca. For the last almost 7 months Oaxaca has been taken over by leftist, communists who have virtually turned the city upside down. Every Government building, office, agency has been taken over, and the city has been under siege. Children have been without classes since May so basically they did not finish out the last school year and have already missed the first 4 months of this school year. For the 2 months we were in Oaxaca we experienced what it is like to live in a city that is on the brink of an outright civil war. Daily businesses being taken over in broad daylight with customers still inside the building, vehicles being vandalized and burned, the whole city being painted with graffiti, are some of many instances that happened while we were there. Many city buses were burned and no one dared go out at night for the roads would be blocked with big rocks as well as burning debris of tree branches, tires, mattresses, trash whatever they could find to burn. Many times at night we would hear gunshots, as well as hear and see the smoke from homemade molotov going off. In the midst of this siege the church continues to grow! The church is continuing to have monthly conference dinners for couples and new families are being added to the church daily. I, Merry had the privilege of holding a conference dinner for women and 20 some women came forward to receive Christ as their Savior and many more women came forward for prayer. In the days we were there we ministered many times in the church and Isaiah who is 11 yrs. old also preached in one of the weekly meetings. For us the best part of our trip was being able to stay at the children's Home with some 78 children for the time we were there. Sharing daily hugs and loving on the kids was part of our being there. Wendy got a chance to be the “nurse” while we were there as daily kids would come in to where we were staying with various ailments and cuts, etc. that required washing and bandaging. Colds, coughs, sprains, scrapes, runny noses needing to be wiped, the needs were always present and it was a joy to be able to minister to these little ones. And Praise be to the Lord that during our 2-month stay in Oaxaca the Lord kept us safe and fulfilled His purposes in our being there.
We spent another month on the road in the states of Guerrero and also Morelos where we were blessed to be able to be with some missionary friends. During that time we also ministered in various churches throughout the state and Vicente was able to preach at a crusade in a village and also was able to teach at a pastors conference for Pastors from that state. So what we had planned to be 6 weeks ended up being 4 months…Truly it was God ordained, His way His timing, much was accomplished for the Kingdom! To God Be the Glory Honor and Praise for all He has done and for all he is doing!
