If you feel like God is not happy with you and you make some kind of sacrifice to cause Him to be pleased with you – You are saying to God that the final sacrifice Jesus made is not enough.
Hebrews 10:10 (Amplified) And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).
Hebrew 10:11 Furthermore, every [human] priest stands [at his altar of service] ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over again, which never are able to strip [from every side of us] the sins [that envelop us] and take them away—
If we don’t understand what Jesus did for us on the cross every time we blow it we will go through routines of sacrifice to get right.
Sacrifices made now for sins already paid for by the blood of Jesus are works of the flesh!
Grieving draws you to the Lord to appropriate your forgiveness. You should be sorry for your sin. There is a difference between feeling sorry for your sin and walking in guilt. There is a difference between conviction and guilt. On the Cross, Jesus said “It is finished!” He fulfilled the law; the perfect sacrifice for all time. No more sacrifice is needed after that.
Hebrews 10:12 Whereas this One [Christ], after He had offered a single sacrifice for our sins [that shall avail] for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,
In the Old Testament, there was a continual need for sacrifices for sins committed. Under New Covenant, His blood was a sacrifice that covers your sins, past, present and future. The final sacrifice. As a result, sin no longer has any power over us. Freedom! When you walk in guilt, in condemnation, you allow sin to have power over you that Jesus set you free from. There are people that are beat up with guilt and condemnation over a lifetime. That is torture from the enemy – that is illegal.
